Best of luck with this one, Rob. What is the genre and who is the publisher?

Thanks, everyone!

Charlie, it's YA science fiction, published by HarperTeen (the YA imprint of Harper Collins).

Okay, I have to ask. I do like your cover. But did you get a say about the cover? All three of my covers were completely different than what I asked for.....not that I am complaining. I am happy with them. But I am just wondering if fiction writers or more accomplished writers really get taken seriously with there input. Or are you just giving your idea and then 3 months later they tell you here it is like it or not? Seriously, I am just wondering.

Shannon, I got to give input, but the ideas I gave weren't ultimately used. I'm totally fine with that, though. A cover is purely a marketing deviceā€”it's great if it is artistic and reveals details about the story, but the primary goal is to get people to pick up the book. With that in mind, I completely defer to art director and marketing team.

(Of course, that's a lot easier to say when the cover turns out well.)

Apology: The above comment from Lady Steed was actually me. Apparently my wife was logged in....

The cover is perfect, but the book was even better! Days later it is still messing with my mind. Thanks a lot, Rob. Write the next one faster.
