The Fourth Nephite
Thanks for all the birthday wishes here and on Facebook. I had a great 47th with family. And I got new games which is always a plus! Sorry about missing posting yesterday. I am in head down writing mode which always makes things a little crazy.
But I thought I'd share the cover from a new book coming out in July. The goal of a cover is obviously to hook the reader. But it can also tell you a lot about the genre, age group, story, etc So without knowing anything about this story, what would you guess from the cover?

My guess is that this is YA. That part wasn't hard. We know about the 3 Nephites so this must be about one we don't know about. We know that Hagoth built a ship and vanished and it stands to reason that if his people remained faithful they were also visited by Christ after the resurection. Only one of the Hagathian decipiles wanted to remain behind and he was a young good looking kid with bushy eyebrows. he will meet a sulky girl who falls head over heels for him (who wouldn't love those eyebrows?) but, being an immortal tarry-er who does not feel temptation, he'll always keep her at arms length and the scriptures close to his heart.
I'm guessing YA, too. The letterman jacket was a good tip off. ;) I think it also does a pretty good job of showing the genre (which is going to be a mix of contemporary and historical fantasy, I'm guessing.)
It's a YA, with Book of Mormon themes although it's contemporary. I'm thinking it's either a time travel, or like an Indiana Jones.
The biggest tip-off to me that I'll like it ... the author's name. :)
Perhaps the story of Jer3miah in novel form?
I don't know, but it's going to be AWESOME, I'm sure of that!
(Wish I could tell what the runes in the door spell out.)
Awesome cover, Jeff. Looks like a YA time travel book to me, and an exciting adventure.
Yep, looks like a YA fantasy novel. I'm sure it'll be great, coming from a great writer.
Hmmmm. He's holding the gold plates, so he either goes back in time to Joseph Smith's era or the Book of Mormon era.
